Initiative Goals

Our Primary Goal

100% Engagement

WHAT GOD WANTS TO DO IN US

The One Initiative is first and foremost a discipleship initiative. More than anything, our desire is that this season would draw you into a closer relationship with God.

Our prayer is that God becomes the one thing you are running after. The Psalmist captures this beautifully in Psalm 27:4,

“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

Our primary goal is that every adult, student, and child engages with the Lord in The One Initiative journey. When you make Him your one thing, everything else falls into place.

Our Secondary Goal

$12.5 Million

WHAT GOD WANTS TO DO THROUGH US

Union Chapel is in an unprecedented season of growth and opportunity. Simply put, we have run out of space to continue to grow. As we dream about the future, our prayer is that Union Chapel would become a deep well—a place where people can encounter the presence and power of God.

This will happen as we connect deeply with the Lord and respond obediently to whatever He asks of us. We are one body, running together toward the One who has yet to encounter Jesus.

God is using Union Chapel in profound ways, but if His presence does not lead us into the next phase, we don’t want to take a single step forward.Through The One Initiative, we believe God will make Union Chapel one in look, feel, and action—as we pursue Him together.

One Church - $5 Million

This investment fuels our everyday ministries and the life-change already happening at Union Chapel.

Traditionally known as the General Fund, this level of investment reflects maintaining our recent investment while positioning us for continued growth.

TOGETHER, WE WILL KEEP RESOURCING MINISTRIES THAT HELP:

  • One family grow stronger

  • One child discover faith

  • One student follow Jesus boldly

  • One adult take their next step

We are trusting God to accelerate the work He is already doing among us.

One Mission - $1.5 Million

Being on Mission has always been at the heart of Union Chapel.

Traditionally known as Faith Promise, this two-year initiative allows us to increase our generosity, to both new and existing ministry partners.

FROM MEETING THE NEEDS OF

  • One local family

  • Reaching One prisoner

  • Helping plant churches so One more community can have a life-giving church nearby preaching the gospel

We are committed to sharing Christ’s love locally and globally through partnerships like the 99 Network and beyond.

One Place - $6 Million

God is growing Union Chapel numerically. We are outgrowing the space He’s given us. This investment allows us to renovate and expand our facility so we can make room for One more story of transformation.

THIS PROJECT WILL:

  • Reimagine our parking and traffic flow for safer, more accessible entry

  • Enhance our Worship Center with additional seating and sound treatment

  • Create new, flexible spaces for multiple ministries, including our thriving Young Adults and Students ministries.

Our heart is simple: to make space for One more person to come to the well, encounter Jesus, and grow as a disciple of Jesus.

At Union Chapel, we’re all on ONE MISSION—to equip believers to love God, love people, and influence the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the One Fund approach will unite our congregation around a clear, streamlined goal while encouraging everyone to take a next step in their generosity journey.

The One Fund

You may have participated in church campaigns where you were asked to give a second gift “above and beyond” your regular giving to complete special projects. Perhaps you gave an “over and above” gift to the “Building Fund” while you continued giving to the “General Fund.” This initiative will function differently, and we’d like to explain why:

The One Initiative will last two years. In those two years, every gift given to Union Chapel will go to “One Fund.” The One Fund will resource three Kingdom-building priorities we discussed in prior pages:

One Church, One Mission, One Place.

The One Initiative is a discipleship journey for our entire church. We are asking God to transform our generosity regardless of our personal giving history. For those who do not have a baseline for usual giving, the prospect of giving to two or more designated funds can potentially prove overwhelming. Perhaps stepping out in faith, for some in our congregation, is to begin giving regularly for the first time, period. We also want to eliminate unintended competition between funding our ongoing ministry, Faith Promise, and our facility project.

How Will You Respond?

1

PRAY PASSIONATELY

Ask the Lord to make your desires reflect His desires. Pray that He would move in the hearts of our congregation to follow Him without hesitation into the future He has planned for us.

2

ENGAGE FULLY

Help us reach our goal of 100% engagement in The One Initiative Journey alongside our church family and commit to being present at our One Initiative events. Attend each Sunday from February 15th to March 15th. Engage in The One Initiative study with your Small Group. Listen to the Lord’s promptings and trust Him with your “Yes.” Learn all you can about God’s heart and will for you and your resources.

3

GIVE GENEROUSLY

Ask God to show you what it looks like to give in a way that changes you. Take whatever steps are required to see it through. Make plans to join us on the evening of March 4th for our Advance Commitment Event
